2001 Season - Week 14

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Having been stitched up by the Jacksonville Injury Report (Fred Taylor was listed as Questionable again this week, even though he doesn’t think he’ll play again this year), Aaron wanted to know how everyone else’s First Round Draft Pick has performed this season. The attached excel spreadsheet breaks down everyone’s choices into the three categories above. Where does your First Rounder go? Tribe Takeover? There comes a time when the first born of The Chief gets to an age where they want to challenge the Head of the Family for leadership, when they feel they are stronger, wiser and ready for control. In the next three weeks we should know if there will be a new chief in town, with Bettis out injured again and Culpepper possibly gone for the year this one could run to the final week of the season. At one point on Sunday Marcus pulled within 9 points of his Dad but TD’s from Holmes, Pollard & Moss means Chief has a 19 point lead. Relegation Tie-Breaker With 3 weeks to go, it’s still very tight at the bottom of the table so here’s a reminder of the tie-breaker should two players end tied on points. The points scored in the Wildcard round will be used to separate the tie with the lowest score losing, so the tie-breaker will be based on how you do, not how your opponent does. Play-Offs Victory on Saturday meant The Raiders have repeated as Champions of the AFC West and became the first team to make the play-offs. The Bears victory over Tampa Bay means they have made the post-season. If Pittsburgh beat Baltimore on Sunday night they will win the AFC Central. If not Baltimore will move to within one game of the Steelers. If St Louis beat New Orleans on Monday Night they will also clinch a post-season berth. BUMS Midweek Games There are two big games on TV this week with huge play-off implications. The Sunday night game (Pittsburgh @ Baltimore - see above) will be viewed at 6:30pm on Monday evening at BUMS HQ. MNF featuring St Louis @ New Orleans will be at 7pm Wednesday at H’s. Next week sees three games played on Saturday night Miami @ New England at 6:30 GMT, Philadelphia @ San Francisco @ 10pm and Tennessee @ Oakland @ 2am.
